JUST THE TIP!!!

JUST THE TIP

I just want to talk.
I know you hate it when someone comes into your room but you have to listen to me. Promise to pay attention to what I came here to tell you. I need just ten minutes. Of course you can go back to reading the novel you were reading when I came in as soon as I'm gone.
You like reading novels right? Good. They are really good. Helps your vocabulary but some of them contain things that can mess with your head. Books are good. Is that a romantic novel? When did you start reading romantic novels? You're growing up.

Oh, back to why I'm here.
I came to talk about something I've been meaning to talk to you about for long now.
I'm here to talk about boys and sex.
Why are you hiding your face?
Don't be shy. It's okay. You don't have to be uncomfortable. I know this is awkward but this is something I must talk to you about.
I know you've started discussing boys with your friends. I overheard you talking to Lucy the other day about that boy in your class. What was his name again; Dave? Dan? Ahhh. You don't want to answer. Are you blushing? Okay. Back to the topic.
Boys. What can I say? I wish I could tell you to stay away from boys totally. I wish I could lock you up and protect you forever but I can't. You're growing up. You'll experience lots of things.
I know you've heard about sex. You've probably discussed it with your friends in school but I know you've not done it.
Don't look so surprised. A mother knows these things.
But there are a lot of things you need to know. I don't want to make the mistake so many parents make. I know this is an uncomfortable topic but I must have this talk with you.
You're my baby. I'll never forgive myself if you make a mistake.
You see, sex is meant for married people but unmarried people engage in it now.
Yes, even people your age. Don't look at me like that. I'm your mother not an idiot.
You're beautiful. You know that? I like the way you're smiling now. Have boys started telling you that? Aha! You're smiling again. Of course they have. That smile is giving you away.
But don't be deceived. You're beautiful. I tell you always, you know this. I don't want you to feel any different.
Lots of boys will tell you too. Some may be sincere compliments but some won't be so sincere.
Some of them just want sex. Yes. I know you're confused. I can see it in your face.
I will explain.
You see, I wish I could scare you away from the act by saying it's a painful and horrible experience but I'm not here to lie to you.
Sex can be fun. Sweet, for lack of a better word. Yes, sweet.
But it can destroy you.
It's just like all those gums and lollipops and chocolates you kept taking. They were sweet but they took you to the dentist lots of times.
You know how painful pulling a tooth felt? Oh that pain is child's play compared to the agony pre marital sex can cause.
It's not worth the pain. It's not worth it. A lot of things can come out of it.
You could get pregnant. Do you want to be pregnant at 16?
Don't just shake your head like that.
Being pregnant at such a young age without marriage or the baby's father is not the worst thing that can happen.
No.
You can get STDs. Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
Some of them can kill you.
Very deadly. Especially when the act happens without a condom.
Do you want to die before you live?
Do you want a lifetime of agony for a five minute pleasure?
I don't like the fear in your eyes now.
You'll be okay.
It will happen someday but I want it to be at the right time.
Your life has just begun.
No matter what these boys tell you, promise me they won't make you do anything against your will.
You see, it's tricky.
You're going to feel things. It's normal. You'll like some of these boys. But a boy who likes you too won't force you if you're not ready...no matter what he says. No matter what you think.
If you have sex with a boy, you'll get pregnant. Especially when you don't use a condom.
Oh come on! Don't look at me like that. I saw the way you blushed the other day when we were all watching TV and an advert about condom came on. I know you know what it is.
Don't be embarrassed.
If you get old enough to have sex, don't ever forget the importance of a condom. Unless you're married.
I'm going to tell you something else darling.
Your body as a girl is very unique. I don't know how far you've gone in your biology classes but I'm going to go ahead and tell you a few things anyway.
You see, there's something called "Ovulation period".
I'm going to explain this as easy as I can. In words you'll understand.
This is the time your body releases eggs.
You can laugh. You don't know you have eggs? Ahh. How do you think babies come about?
You have eggs in your body. Your womb. You know what ovaries are? Good girl.
Now if you have sex during the period your body just released an egg, the sperm from the boy's body will meet the egg in your body and fertilisation will occur. Your egg becomes fertilised and baaaam! You're going to be a mommy!
But if you don't have sex, there won't be sperm to fertilise the eggs.
Here, take this little calendar I made for you. Go ahead.
I prepared it based on the last time you had your period. I knew. A mother knows all these things. I knew you were on your period.
So I outlined everything here. Everything you need to know about your cycle and ovulation period. So now you know when your "safe" period is.
Not so that you can have sex.
No...if you can wait until you get married, please do. In fact I'd love that but I want to be realistic.
Boys are not bad. They just make you do stupid things sometimes.
Now I know your friends have been saying things but I want you to know something.
No matter what they say, there's nothing wrong with being a virgin. It's nothing to be ashamed of. On the contrary, you should be proud. Realise that most of your friends who have lost their virginity only tell you these things because they are jealous.
You see, once you lose it, it's gone forever.
Be the good girl I trust you are and when boys try to make you do it, stand your ground. Don't be forced into it...even if they say it's just "the tip".
"just the tip" have put lots of girls in trouble my daughter.
Be careful and remember, if you have anything you want to talk about, I'm always here and I have more experience than your friends. You can talk to me.
I love you.
Go back to the novel you were reading.

This is really good! Nigerian mothers most often than not try to dodge talking about sex with their little girls and boys and as such, the bird and bees talk is too underrated. This feels like an address to that and I'm happy it exists ❤️
